How this blog is supported
The GoByte blog is free to read. This page says who pays for it and what they get in return.
Who pays for it#
GoByte, the product, pays for most of it. Sponsors and affiliate links cover the rest.
Three kinds of support#
- GoByte's own product. Our calls to action are always about GoByte: follow a series, try a feature, create an account.
- Labeled sponsors. At most one small block per post, marked "Sponsored" in its first line. Sponsors pay a flat fee for fixed dates, and we pick them by hand.
- Affiliate links. When a post contains one, a note above the first affiliate link says so. We only link tools we use.
Editorial independence#
Sponsors never see drafts, never review posts and never request topics or changes. A sponsor that asks loses the slot.
No reader cookies, no ad scripts#
Blog pages set no cookies for readers and load no third party ad or tracking scripts. We count page views and sponsor impressions with a cookieless request that stores nothing about you, and clicks through GoByte's own tracked links.
Sponsor#
We accept sponsors whose product our readers would actually use. Here is what a sponsor gets, and what they do not.
- Placement. One labeled block per post at most: under the table of contents on wide screens, or after the article. Never inside the text. A flat fee for fixed dates, on one post or a whole series.
- Audience. Developers and marketers who read to the end.
- Clicks you can check. Your link goes through a GoByte link, so you see the clicks it sent. We never share anything about readers.
- Independence. Sponsors never see drafts, never review posts and never request topics or changes. A sponsor that asks loses the slot.
- Disclosure. The block's first line always says "Sponsored", in body size and body contrast, with a link to this page.
